GameBoy / GameBoy Color

Nintendo GameBoy / GameBoy Color Emulation

Gambatte
System: Nintendo GameBoy
Emulator: Gambatte
Maintainer: apersonthinks
There are a few GameBoy / GameBoy Color emulators out there for the Pandora, but the best one there is currently is Gambatte.
Besides a very good and accurate GameBoy emulation with the usual stuff like Savestates and SRAM support, it also has some features the others are missing.
The Scale2x filter makes some GameBoy Games look a lot better (though, of course, this is only optional... if you prefer pixelized graphics, you can switch to that as well).
You can also define your own color sets for games, thus colorizing classic monochrome games the way you want.
The color sets can be saved, and Gambatte has already color sets for the most popular games included.
The only known issue is that scrolling sometimes has VSync issue - due to the original GameBoy having some weird timings, but all the other emulators have this as well.
Another interesting thing is that you can change the GameBoy timing - thus increasing or decreasing the speed of the emulation (some games are more fun when run faster
)
GBC.emu - Emu Ex Plus Alpha
System: Nintendo GameBoy
Emulator: GBC.emu - Emu Ex Plus Alpha
Maintainer: ptitSeb
A very good emulator, supporting VSync for perfect scrolling.
It uses the Gambatte Core, so it has a very high compatibility, however, this version does not support Scale2x.
It does support Scanlines and CRT Mask emulation, which is a neat feature.
If you're into pure emulation without any image enhancements, then this is the perfect emulator to get.
8Blitter
System: Nintendo GameBoy
Emulator: 8Blitter
Maintainer: Lordus
The second emulator supporting proper VSync, so scrolling is perfect.
The soundcore is not yet properly finished, so some music and sound effects sound wrong.
Apart from that, it runs very well.
GnuBoy EX
System: Nintendo GameBoy
Emulator: GnuBoy EX
Maintainer: commander-beef
Another good emulator, though Savestates are not working.
It supports GameBoy, Color GameBoy and SuperGameBoy games.
VisualBoy Advance-kk
System: Nintendo GameBoy
Emulator: VisualBoy Advance-kk
Maintainer: Zink
While VisualBoy is a GameBoy Advance Emulator, it can also run GameBoy and GameBoy Color Games.
It's also a pretty good emulator supporting SRAM, Savestates and different scaling filters.
However, there's one hardcoded "Wrote to Battery"-Message whenever a game saves to the SRAM - which can be annoying with games like Pokemon, as this happens every few seconds.
Apart from that, very playable.
