What do people want to see regarding the specs for the P2 screen?
For reference if the screen had a 5" diagonal screen width & height would be:
Aspect Ratio 4:3 Screen Width = 4", Screen Height = 3"
Aspect Ratio 16:10 Screen Width = 4.26", Screen Height = 2.65"
Aspect Ratio 16:9 Screen Width = 4.36", Screen Height = 2.45"
It appears that we're allowed a rather measly 3 questions per poll otherwise I would have included resistive vs capacitive & single touch vs multitouch.
FWIW I would have voted for Resistive Multitouch (with 5" diagonal, 4:3 aspect ratio, 720 minimum res)

5", 16:10, 1280x800 would be great.
Perhaps add an option for the display tech? OLED, LCD, IPS, QD-LED(hah..), etc?

when I think about it the minimum reso should be 1024x768, so it can run windows aswell.

Windows can run on lower, but I agree.
Then again 1280x800 is nearly higher than my laptop, which is kind of insane for a 5"...

windows metro apps mandate 1024x768 as a minimum reso or they simply wont run.

Isn't that somewhat of an agenda of him (pushing in the x86 direction) ?

Surprised to see the love for larger screen sizes, from discussions in the P2 concept threads pocketability seemed to be a major consideration for many.
Am also surprised to see 16:9 as a preferred aspect ratio, perhaps it's my Luddite tendencies to still prefer a 4:3 screen for everyday computing & most gaming. 16:9 is of course great for video but that's about it in my olde worlde book. ![]()

In a clamshell, you're not getting a 4:3 screen if you want a keyboard. Unless you want your pandora to be really big...

My 5.5" Galaxy Note II is perfectly pocketable. The screen itself would fit inside the lid of the Pandora if we relocated the speakers.
Thickness on the Pandora is more the issue - which is hard to fix. Many smartphones get around this by making the motherboard and components go around the battery well rather than over it. If you're going to stack battery, board, controls, screen on top of each other - it's going to be thick.
I would -love- to have the 5.5" 720p screen from my Galaxy Note II in a Pandora II. 1080p screens in the same size class are starting to become even more common.

windows rt runs on arm, if the pandora goes arm I would like the ability to run wuteva os on it.

as far as I know Windows RT is only available for manufacturers, so running it on the Pandora is only possible if you aquire an illegal copy

I voted for 5" 4:3 1024x768 - XGA
I think for better readbility on a 5" screen.
I don't know how good is using higher resolutions on a 5"

Given the the vertical height of the screen is limited to a maximum of 7cm by the pocket constraint, why would anyone want a 4:3 screen? Surely a 1280x800 320ppi 5" screen is better than a 1024x768 300ppi 4.3" screen of the same height (6.5cm)?

Given the the vertical height of the screen is limited to a maximum of 7cm by the pocket constraint
As we're talking of screen dimensions in inches, it might be helpful to stick to inches instead of cm for measurements.
Where on earth does this limit of 2.75 inches (7cm) for pocket size come from? For instance, where I come from (Yorkshire UK) pockets tend to be a lot deeper than the national average, the same is also said about Scotland
look at the OP, you can see that the actual impact on pocketability of having a 5" 4:3 screen compared to a 5" 16:9 screen is not exactly huge, i.e for a 4:3 screen vertical height is a bit bigger, horizontal width is a bit smaller.
My guess is that screen size is more important than pocketability to most people or we would have seen more votes for a 4" screen.
why would anyone want a 4:3 screen?
From a personal perspective I find a 4:3 screen on a small device to be more useful for everyday computing, i.e. you probably won't be running 2 windows side by side like you would on a 16:9 desktop monitor. Also I'm a big fan of retro gaming, this would be one of my main uses for a Pandora successor, a 4:3 screen is exactly what you want for retro gaming.
As mentioned before though, screen aspect ratio is hardly a deal breaker from my perspective, I wouldn't shy away from a 16:9 screen just because I didn't intend a major use of the device to be viewing movies etc.

Not sure I like it
That, slaesjag, is exactly the point I was trying to make.
For a given diagonal 4:3 screens are superior, but that's not the limitation. The limitation is height, and to maximise screen area you want the widest screen (within reason) available.
The height should be the greatest that will fit in a pocket, and the width the widest that will fit in your hands: this will always lead to a wide screen.
I do use two windows side-by-side on my pandora btw ![]()
