Yes.

Thanks.
I'm mean, it's a fast death, isn't it? I wasn't torturing it longer than necessary, like I would have with pkill without arguments. It didn't even new what was coming.
And the music was really nice, I was completely captivated by it. Because it had a very large dynamic range I had to set the loudness to 100% to hear the quiet parts. Then Skype BEEEEEEEPS right into a slow movement filled with feelings.

You might want to put Skype in to silent notification mode.
I'm a proud owner of an OpenPandora Pandora and a SONY Xperia Z Ultra w/ Moga Pro Power controller.

By the way, please do not view my forum boards profile, as there are quite a few large images being shown.

Is it morally acceptable to pkill -9 skype because it beeped while I was listening to good music and I was annoyed about that? ^^

I guess its acceptable behaviour, at least on a board were its owner can be quoted with "...well killing is not nice, but it works..."

Edit: what did you listen too ?

Not sure anymore what it was. Some concert, I think with a solo violinist and orchestra. Possibly from the Romantic era. Hmm... No, I don't think I'll be able to find it again.

I'm forgetful like that.

Currently debating whether I can listen to the Hunger Games e-Book I got on Humble Bundle for another hour. I have a concert on Wednesday and need to hold a presentation which still needs lots of work on Thursday, so I guess I should sleep to be fit for a tomorrow filled with work, but on the other hand I wanna continue...
(was a really good deal too, I like those books quite a lot and this way I got all three of them for $15 with the chance of some of the others being good too)

Since there are so many Americans here and it's more common over there than here:

Can anybody here give me advice about autoharps?

Do those cheap ones from "Ashbury" and especcially "Tenayo" (with pickups) do the job?

It's quite interesting as an accompanying instrument.

Great stuff, but the one about Bush not being notified for four years is wrong, he signed this stuff and was part of it from the beginning as I've read in an article today.

I disagree with that post. There are many white males lead characters because they're the "default" characters. It's true in video games, it's true in movies, etc. When there's a black lead in a story, it's probably because the story has something to do with the fact that he's black. If he could be replaced with a white character without causing any consistency issue in the story, he will be.

It's part cultural (we're so used to seeing white male leads that we internally think white male when we think lead character) and part commercial (people are more receptive to stories featuring characters similar to them, so when you're selling your products to white guys, the producers will want your character to be a white male).

But the concern of not offending minorities is still interesting.

First of all, I don't think that having a woman be a lecherous drunk would be considered sexist. "Lecherous drunk" is not something that our culture associate with women. However, having a woman be a disturbed solider might cause trouble, since women are generally represented as less emotionally stable, so this would be reinforcing a negative stereotype of women. It would be like having a black lead character who steals televisions or mug people.

The fact that in the end, Elayne didn't need Guybrush is great because it subverts the trope of the knight in shining armor saving the damsel in distress. If you switch the genders, the joke isn't the same, and that's why it doesn't work as well.

I think it's also wrong to think that you can't have a flawed female character. In The Longuest Journey - and even more so in Dreamfall - April Ryan is a fragile character. Yet, nobody has ever said that these games were sexists. On the contrary, they're often shown as game with great female leads. Why is that? Because April Ryan and Zoe Castillo are well written characters. They're not stereotypes, they're characters with weaknesses and strong points and while their gender has an impact on who they are, it doesn't completely define them. And that's the kind of female lead that we need more of.

Cass from Fallout New Vegas was pretty much a lecherous drunk.

That picture illustrates the beautiful double standard that we've locked ourselves into. Why can't we see the Marisa as Marisa then a representative of all females?! It seems once you open up that box you'll run into issues. Boring correct characters suck. That's probably Why many people love the villians in 'the later far cry series more then the good guys. They have personalities. They're insane and fun.

I have a saying when it comes to character design I usd as a writer "they're so f-ed up they're realistic." Im glad the P.C train doesn't affect literature as much as it affects other forms of media.

The Hungergames. Beautifully flawed main characters.
